Coach Coogan has been part of the New Balance family since 1994; first as an athlete and now as the coach for New Balance Boston. As an athlete, Coach Coogan was a member of 7 IAAF World Cross Country teams, represented the US in the 5,000 meters at the 1995 world championships, broke 4 minutes in the mile, and was a 1996 Olympian in the marathon. After retiring from competitive running, Coach Coogan quickly found his passion for coaching. He coached collegiately at Brown University, MIT, Tufts University, and Dartmouth College. He coached his collegiate athletes to numerous accolades; conference championships, All-American finishes, and NCAA championships. Coaching professional runners, Coach Coogan has coached three different men in the 5,000 meters to times of 13:02, 13:04, and 13:14 respectively. He has coached athletes in the European Championships, IAAF World Championships, and the Olympic Games. He looks forward to building New Balance Boston into one of the best middle distance and distance teams in the world.
